A) Samara State Aerospace University http://www.ssau.ru/english/ The state educational institution of higher professional education “Samara State Aerospace University named after academician S.P. Korolyov” (SSAU) was founded in 1942 as Kuibyshev Aviation Institute (KuAI) with the purpose of the preparation of the engineers for the aircraft industry. In 1966 Kuibyshev Aviation Institute was named after academician S.P.Korolyov. In 1992 Samara Aviation Institute was renamed Samara State Aerospace University named after academician S.P. Korolyov, when the University was 50. The University developed dynamically on the basis of the using of the educational technologies, which are based on the fundamental and applied scientific researches, which are provided in SSAU. At present the University is the leading institute of higher education of federal value. Also Samara State Aerospace University is the center of competence in the areas of the aerospace and the geoinformational technologies, which are integrated in the context of the legislation with the state and the non-state educational, research, innovative structures, which introduce new equipments. The University mission consists in the realization on level of the advanced achievements of the educational, scientific, social and cultural activity with a view of the development and the realization of the personnel, cultural, scientific, industrial potential of the aerospace and the other high technology industries in the Volga region and in the Russia. Also the University legation lies in the satisfaction of the requirements of the person for the intellectual, cultural and moral development by means of the reception of the higher and the supplementary professional education, the continuous formation and the raising the level of the skills on the basis of the reception and the application of the new knowledge. The mission consists in the maintenance of the intensive sustainable development of the society with the market economy, which is based on the knowledge. Samara State Aerospace University named after academician S.P. Korolyov accomplishes the preparation of the specialists for the space-rocket, aircraft, radio-electronic, metallurgical, automotive industry and others. The University consists of 5 educational institutes, the branch in Togliatti, the representation in Novokuybyshevsk, 9 faculties, 51 chairs, 37 computer halls, 27 research laboratories, 5 research institutes, a library stocked with over 1 million books and electronic resources, a training airfield with a unique aircraft fleet, 2 sports complexes with a swimming pool, a yacht club, a public museum of aviation and cosmonautics, a center of aircraft engine history, a health and fitness center, 7 halls of residence for students and the hotel. The University premises occupy 144,4 thousands square meters. During its lifetime the University has prepared about 52 000 specialists including since 2001 till 2005 – 6248 persons. At present time 36 specialties, 15 directions of the preparation of the bachelors and the masters are licensed at the University. 26 basic educational programs have the state accreditation. The University is a large scientific center where fundamental and applied research is carried out, and development work is performed. The following Research Institutes have been founded on the basis of the University: Research Institute of Machine Acoustics, Research Institute of Airframe constructions, Research Institute of Instrument-making, Research Institute of Technologies and Quality Problems, Research Institute of System Designing. The Branches of the Russian Academy of Sciences have been organized at the University: Institute of Image Processing Systems of RAS, Volzhskiy branch of Metallurgy and Material Science Institute after A.A. Baykov of RAS. At the University there are training in 7 branches of science within the frames of 32 specialties, which are implemented at post-graduate courses, and 9 specialties, which are implemented at doctorate courses. Ministry of Defence of Russian Federation considered the military department of the SSAU one of the best in 2000. The International Aerospace lyceum works at the SSAU. The Air Transport College is opened.
