14. Books and Reading

To read is in fashion. Time passes; appear a number of new free time activities but reading still is the one of the most popular leisure for the majority of people. Recently due to spreading of globalization appear a lot of new authors, interesting books and tendencies that becomes more and more popular. The world is reading and that’s the good habit.

That’s very difficult to write a good book.Of course the author should possess the talent, the contemporary way of looking, understanding, rich vocabulary to vary the speech, the knowledge of stylistic devices to share the moods, tones, tints (оттенок), the division of the text on special parts to make the piece of literature understandable, and of course the thing to tell. I’m sure that the real author is a person who is engaged with smth, who are not indifferent, who has the rich imagination and who always is in some search, search of something.That’s the thing that makes a good book.

The good book and a bestseller is not the same, these two notions have much in common, the notions cross, but they have some differences. Not all good books become popular. For a book to become a bestseller is necessary a good promotion, advertisement, positive reviews of mass media. Very often only the name of the author makes the advertisement to a book and give the reason for the people to buy it and read, but if the author is not popular and only the beginner promotion is the hard, long, investment work. Of course it’s possible to sell “the joker in the pack”, but such book will be soon forgotten, the real bestseller won’t be forgotten and the name of it will transmit from mouth to mouth and won’t be thrown away from the bookshelf.

Also I want to mention a few words about the author style. All authors worked out their own literature style that is known and recognizable by their admirers. Such style gives the distinctive character to his pieces of literature and can be liked or not, it’s the reason to like or dislike the book, but also the reason to respect the author, because personal style proves skill and talent.

Every book that was read is like the life that was lived through especially if that’s the book that left the unforgettable impression. Since some time people learn to take something useful from every book becoming more and more thoughtful and wise, books change us making us predominately better. My family has a reading tradition. We have a very big home literary of Russian classics, Foreign classics and a number of contemporary literature. I remember times when I was a little girl and my mam reads to me my first books, reveals the reading habit in me, it stays for ever. I consider that heroes from these books such as Captain Tatarinov and Dartanian influenced my features of character and made me as I’m.

Grownups should reveal the reading habit in children since childhood. The responsibility for this lay on parents. The parents are the people who read the first books, open to the child the world of letters. But the next person, the figure of imitation who can help and make children like reading is the teacher. Only he\she using pedagogical and psychological methods (telling interesting stories, giving examples, giving interesting exercises, class reading, home reading and etc) can interest children and open to them this endless world.
