Cent – a coin and unit of money worth 1% of the main unit of money in many countries. Penny – a small British coin and unit of money.
cost a pretty penny- to cost a lot of money;
cut (someone) off without a penny- to stop giving someone a regular amount of money, to leave someone no money in a will;
(not) have two cents to rub together- to not have much money;
pennies from heaven- money that you do not expect to get;
penny for one`s thoughts- a request to tell someone what he or she is thinking about;
a penny saved is a penny earned- saving money by not spending it is the same as getting money from working;
penny-wise and pound foolish- to be careful or thrifty in small expenditures but careless or wasteful in large ones;
pinch pennies- to be careful with money, to be thrifty;
put in one`s two cents (worth)- to add one's comments or opinion to a discussion;
red cent- a small sum of money;
two cents (worth)- one's comments or opinion;
(not) worth a cent/a red cent/two cents- to be not worth anything, to be not of any value.
