Особенности американского произношения

Английский язык, без преувеличения, является самым распространенным иностранным языком в мире. Кроме того, он является государственным языком Великобритании, США, Канады, Австралии и Новой Зеландии. Естественно, ввиду географической удалённости от классического английского языка, особенности быта и культуры в США, Канаде, Австралии и Новой Зеландии, появились свои произносительные особенности.

Поскольку американский английский является лишь вариантом английского языка он, в основном, сохраняет звуковую базу английского языка, имея при этом некоторые особенности.

- Так дифтонг [ou] произносится с большим округлением губ, чем в британском варианте английского языка.

- Звук [e] произносится более открыто и напоминает звук [ɛ].

- Звук [ju:] после согласных обычно имеет слабо выраженное [j], которое в речи многих американцев почти исчезает и слова student, new, duty звучат как [stu:dent], [nu:], [`du:ti].

- Гласный [ɔ] звучит как [a], дифтонги [ai], [au] в качестве ядра имеют весьма передний звук [a], который почти совпадает с [æ].

- Вместо гласного [a:] в словах типа class, plant, answer произносится звук [æ].

- Для американского варианта характерно носовое произношение гласных звуков.

- Звук [r] произносится как в середине слова, так и в конце, отчего речь американцев звучит более резко, чем речь англичан.

В американском варианте английского языка есть лексические и орфографические особенности, что, впрочем, не мешает англичанам и американцам отлично понимать друг друга.
