KUTUZOV'S GENERAL STAFF
The Chief of Staff was Bennigsen.
Miloradovitch had rejoined Kutiizov with some reinforcements (1 000 cavalry and militiamen from Moscow). Wilson, the English adviser was there to watch.Wilson seems to have suggested falling back to Rostopchin with a scorched earth policy and burning Moscow after the Moscova.
The numbers for each corps according to Boutourlin, the Russian historian, will be given. His book on 1812 was published in 1824.
THE FIRST ARMY OF THE WEST
This was the army of Barclay de Tolly with, from the general staff, the Chief of Staff Yermolov and as Quartermaster, Colonel Toll. General Kutaissov commanded the artillery.
