9. Аптека: отделы и персонал

-          Excuse me; are you the manager of the chemist’s?

-           Yes, I am.

-          Let me introduce myself. I study at the pharmaceutical faculty of the KSMU and I have to ask you some questions about your chemist’s and the personnel.

-          Ok. Actually you are in time. I am not very busy right now, so I can show you around.

-          Well, I know that there are two departments here: a prescription department and a chemist’s department.

-          You are absolutely right. Our chemist’s shop has also a room for prescription of medicines, a room for washing, drying and sterilization of glassware, an analytical laboratory and a room for dispensing medicines.

-          Where are all medicines kept at the chemist’s?

-          They are kept in drug cabinets, on the open shelves and in the refrigerator. Poisonous drugs are kept in the drug cabinets with the letter A, strong effective drugs are kept in the drug cabinet having the letter B.

-          I’ve heard that every small bottle or box has a label with the name of the medicine stuck on it.  And there are labels of four colors. Can you tell me about this?

-          With a great pleasure. Labels of green color indicate medicines for internal use, blue labels indicate drugs used for injections. Labels of yellow color-for external application, labels of pink color – drugs used for treatment of eye diseases.

-          How are medicines distributed at the chemist’s department?

-          They are distributed according to the therapeutic effect: drugs for cough, cardiac medicines, drugs for headache etc.

-          And what about the prescription department?

-          You can see drugs of all kinds there: boxes and parcels of different powders, ampoules of glucose, tubes of ointments, different pills and tablets and so on.

-          As far as I know the personnel of every chemist’s consists of a manager of the chemist’s, a dispensing pharmacist who takes prescriptions and delivers drugs, a chemist who controls the prescriptions, a chemist-analyst and a pharmacist who is in charge of the supply of necessary medicines and medical commodities. Am I right?

-          Yes, you are.

-          Thank you very much for the information. It was nice to talk to you.

-          The pleasure was mine.

8. Работа аптеки: приобретение лекарств

(First at the ready-made medicine department)

-          Good afternoon. What can I do for you?

-          Good afternoon. The matter is that I have a chill. I cough all the time (it is with purulent sputum) and I have a terrible sore throat. I’d like to know whether you have any antitussive drugs.

-          Yes, we have some, but I’d advise you to take some antibiotics. What’s your antibiotic sensitivity?

-          Well, it’s been normal.

-          Ok, I supposed flemoxine will be quite good for you. By the way do you have a nasal cold?

-          Yes, I do. I also have a high temperature.

-          Well, here are some nasal drops and menthol pencil and panadol syrup for a high temperature.

-          Have you got any drugs for sore throat?

-          Sure. There is Lugol’s solution. Lubricate your throat about 6 times a day.

-          So how much should I pay.

-          The price is …

-          Here you are. Oh I’ve forgotten. I need to buy some drugs for my sister at the prescription department.

-          I can help you. What do you need? Will you kindly give me the prescription? Let me see… the doctor has prescribed some pills and cough mixtures. We’ve got these tablets.

-          Is it a strong affective drug? Can it cause any side affect?

-          It is superior in the analgetic group, it’s been clinically approved and it is practically harmless.

-          Oh, good, thank you. But what about the cough mixture. When will it be ready?

-          It will be ready in 20 minutes. You can sit down over there and wait.

-          Ok, thank you. How much should I pay?

-          The charge is …

-          Thank you very much. You’ve helped me a lot.
