When we want to buy something, we go to a shop. There are many kinds of shops in every town or city, but most of them are food supermarkets, where you can buy many different things at once: sausages, fish, sugar, flour, tea, flakes, sweets and a lot of other things.

Going shopping is a part of our everyday life. For some people it's a pleasant pastime while for others it's an everyday routine. Some people like doing shopping and they are happy if they can bargain in the sales, while others feel bored walking along the shelves in a shop. But whether you like shopping or not you have to do it because it's a necessity. At present shopping has become more exciting than it used to be 20 or 30 years ago. Today people do a lot of shopping or at least window-shopping every day, because in large cities and even in small towns there are all kinds of shops and stores as well as supermarkets.

Besides supermarkets and department stores there are markets where people can buy fruit and vegetables. One can find dried fruit, cheese, nuts, honey, cereals and other food in the markets as well. Markets are nice places to visit even if you don't need to buy anything.

Some people dislike shopping because of noise and fuss and order goods on the Internet . Today you can buy everything on the Internet starting with books and finishing with clothes, but it's really not easy to find a store with the best prices and more convenient delivery hours because today there are so many stores and companies on the Internet. Another reason why people prefer to use the Internet today to buy this or that thing is that it's time-saving.

My family and I do the shopping at weekends. My family is not very big, but my parents are busy during the week and they have no time to go to buy things on weekdays. On Sunday we usually go to a large supermarket and buy food for the whole week. I don't like going there, because there are usually many people. The supermarket has a lot of departments, so we can buy everything in one place.

If we need clothes or shoes we usually go to the shopping center. There are a lot of shops in Moscow, some of them are expensive, others are cheap and you have a choice. In a shopping center you can buy everything – clothes, shoes, cosmetics, books, toys, household appliances and even furniture! If there is a child in the family, parents can leave him in a special play area. After shopping you can have a meal in one of the cafes or restaurants which are usually situated on one of the floors.

I like (I don’t like) shopping because…..

I prefer going shopping ………. when I need ………... I also like to go shopping when I need to buy presents for my family or friends, but in general I don't like shopping without any need.
