9. Truskavets – the best spa resort in Ukraine

1). Truskavets is a resort of the European level, which was founded in 1827. Truskavets is one of the largest spa resorts of Ukraine, famous for variety of mineral waters, the most famous of which is "Naftusya".

2). This water, in complex with other natural treatment factors, such as mineral baths and physiotherapy. This spa resort has the best infrastractructure. The modern city reabilitation spa center is the best place for a really luxury relaxation.

3). Region Truskavets is rich for its mineral resources, which are considerable deposits of oil, natural gas, rock and salt. There are about four thousand monuments of history, archeology, architecture and monumental art!

4). Food in Truskavets

The elegant 'Theodora' restaurant is for sure worth visiting - you can try delicious dishes of European cuisine. The guests may order special diet food recommended by their doctors. And also you can visit pizzeria and a café.

5). Accommodation

Located in the heart of Truskaves Spa Resort is Truskavets Hotel. The hotel which include double, triple rooms and suites all with bathrooms. At the hotel there is parking, with 90 seats.

10. Lubart Castle

Castle was build under Liubart-Dmytro Gademinovich, in the XV century the castle becomes the southern residence of the great Lithuanian Lords- Litovt and Svidrigailo. At the initiative of Vitovt in 1429 the meeting of European monarchs took place here, the event which still remains one of the most interesting pages in the history not only of Lutsk but of Ukraine as well. In 1431 the walls of the castle withstood more than a month-long siege of the Polish troops. Next year Svidrigailo becomes the last independent prince of Volyn. During 20 years of his reign he does a lot expand the castle. In the XVI century the castle becomes the administrative and political centre of Volyn.

The castle has three towers: the Gate, the Bishops and the Styr tower connected with each other by brick walls with military galleries.

The Gate tower houses the expositions of Local Lore and “Plitnitsa”, which tells about the history of brick building in Lutsk. The Castle Arsenal takes the lower parts of Bishops tower, the upper parts are taken by the exposition of the Museum of Bells, which is the only museum of its kind in Ukraine. Up to the middle of the XIX century the Styr tower house medieval castle archives, now the clubs of historic restoration enthusiasts of knights traditions revival – are situated here.

Contrary to the castle which has come to our time in all its originals beauty, the old structures of the suburban town have been completely destroyed.

In the centre of the castle fortifications stood the St. John the Divine Church, built in the second part of the XII century by Prince Yaroslav. Nowadays the relics of the church, examined in 1984-1986, are the only monuments of pre-Mongol period in Lutsk

Next to the Bishops tower the house of regional treasury was built by the finance administration of Volyn province at the beginning of the XIX century on the site of the Bishops house. In the XIX- XX centuries different town institutions were housed here.

And now its – “Museum Books”

With every coming year life becomes more and more intensive in Lutsk. Many people come to the castle especially on weekends and holydays when knights give demonstration shows and then the sounds of iron swords are mixed with falcons cries. Of late these birds have made their nests in loop-holes of the castle and become the symbol of revival of the castle.
