  • I always see films of this kind.

  • I always try to see films with these actors in it.

  • Everybody was going to see it.

  • I had nothing better to do; it was all the same to me what to see.

  • A friend recommended it.

  • The ads looked interesting / exciting.

  • There was no better choice.

  • I read the book and wanted to see its screen version.

Now remember your impressions of the film. Choose the one from the options given below that is most similar in your response (reaction) to the film:

  • I really enjoyed it. It was brilliant!

  • I didn’t enjoy it at all. The plot was banal and the acting very poor.

  • It was / wasn’t what I expected.

  • I definitely can / can’t recommend it to my friends.

  • The film was fantastic! The acting, the costumes and the scenery were superb!

  • The film was so boring that I switched over to another channel / left the cinema.

4. Speak on the following:

  • A few years ago going to the cinema was more popular than it is now. Can you explain why many people prefer to watch films on TV?

  • Can you call yourself a cinema / moviegoer? When did you last go to the cinema? What film did you see? Why did you choose that film? Did you like it? What was your impression of the film?

  • Do you have a favourite film? If yes, how many times have you seen it? What makes you see it again and again?

  • Do you have favourite movie stars? What attracts you in them? Do you like to read about their life in media? Do think it’s necessary to discuss their personal affairs in public?

  • Do you think cinema and television compete as rivals or coexist peacefully? Some people say that in the nearest future there will be no cinema and theatre, only television, do you agree?
