Глагол to be
Спряжение глагола to be

was were were was were |
shall be shall be will be will be will be |
I shall be at home. —
Our task is to read the text twice. —
I am а student.
We were five. —
Не is sitting at the table.
I was given the book yesterday. —
Не is to do it.
I am to help her.
а) если глагол be имеет простую форму (состоит из одного слова: am, are, is, was, were), тогда он выносится вперед и ставится перед подлежащим.
Не is a good student.
Is he a good student? —
Yes, he is.
No, he is not.
He is to do it.
Is he to do it?
Yes, he is.
No, he is not.
е. имеет вспомогательный глагол, например shall be, will be, can be, would be …), вперед выносится именно этот глагол (он же используется в кратком ответе), а be остается на месте:
Не will be there tomorrow.— Он будет там завтра.
Will he be there tomorrow? —
Yes, he will.
No, he will not. - Нет, нe будет.
Не is not a good student.
They were not in the hall. —
Не will not be there tomorrow.
There + to be
There is a picture on the wall. —
There are many people in the street. —
числа) или с неопределенным местоимением some, any, no, например:
There is a thing on the table. —
There were some children in the room. — В комнате было несколько детей There are nо people in the street.
В роли фактического подлежащего часто используются производные oт some, аnу, nо: somebody, something, nothing и т.д.:
There is something in the box. —
There was nobody in the hall. —
There will be somebody in the room. —
There is something in the box. —
There were many people there.
Вопросительная и отрицательная форма предложений с оборотом there to be
Is there a book on the table? —
Yes, there is. No, there is not.
Will there be a lecture tomorrow? —
Yes, there will. No, there will not.
2. Отрицательная форма оборота there + to be образуется двумя способами:
There is no book on the table. —
There was nobody in he hall. —
There is nothing in the box. —
There are not many books on the table.
There is not much water in the glass. —
There was not a single question to the speaker. —
Was there anybody in the room? —
Nо, there was not. There was not anybody in the room.
Is there enough presents for everybody? —
No, there is not enough presents for everybody. —
