I was born in the family of teachers. I am an only child in the family.

Now I’m a first-year student of Machine-Buildihg College. I find being a student great fun but also very stressful. I have just finished school and I still remember and miss my teachers and my school friends. I often go to see them and we speak about our new life and impressions.

I don’t have much free time because I should study hard. I’m going to become an accountant and I try to study as best as possible in order to become a good specialist.

There are 25 students in my group. We’ve come from different schools but we are good friends now. Our life is never boring because there is a great choice of amateur art activities and sports clubs and circles in our college.

As for me I don’t like sport very much and my favourite hobby is dancing.

My dream is to become a good specialist and to find a good job after graduating from the college.

I hope my dream will come true.

IX Speak about yourself. Text for Supplementary Reading the secret of happiness.

There is a wonderful fable about a young orphan girl who had no family and no one to love her. One day, feeling sad and lonely, she was walking through a meadow when she noticed a small butterfly caught in a thorn bush. The more the butterfly struggled to free itself, the deeper the thorns cut into its fragile body. The young orphan girl carefully released the butterfly. Instead of flying away, the little butterfly changed into a beautiful fairy. The young girl was very astonished.

“For your kindness”, the fairy said to the girl, “I will grant you any wish you would like”.

The little girl thought for a moment and then replied “I want to be happy”.

The fairy said “Very well”. She whispered something in her ear.

As the little girl grew up, there was no one in the land as happy as she was. Everyone asked her the secret of her happiness. She smiled and answered, “The secret of my happiness is that I listened to the fairy when I was a little girl”.

When she was very old and on her deathbed, the neighbours all gathered around her. They were afraid that her magic secret of happiness would die with her. “Tell us, please”, they begged. ”Tell us what the good fairy said.”

The old woman smiled and said, “She told me that everyone, no matter how secure they seemed, no matter how old or young, how rich or poor they were, they all had need of me”.
