ВСТУП

Методичні вказівки щодо практичних занять з навчальної дисципліни «Основна іноземна мова: усна англійська мова» призначені для студентів ІІ курсу (1-го семестру) зі спеціальності 6.030500 – «Переклад».

У методичних вказівках розглядаються наступні теми «Подорож», «Географія», «Місто», «Пошта» і «Транспорт». Практичні заняття складаються з нових лексичних одиниць, краєзнавчих текстів та комунікативних вправ.

Цілі методичних вказівок формулюються, виходячи з мети усього п’ятирічного курсу, і зводяться до практичних (формування мовленнєвих навичок і вмінь), афективних (формування впевненості щодо використання мови як засобу комунікації та для перекладу, а також розвиток позитивного відношення до вивчення англійської мови і засвоєння відповідної культури).

Мета: вивчити лексичні одиниці з теми «Подорож». Обговорення як і чому люди подорожують.

Going on Holiday

The way you choose to travel is in many senses an indication of your personality – such is the conclusion of some American psychologists. How far and how often you travel depend only on you family budget.

So you get into your car. Firstly, this means that you don’t like to stick to a timetable and live by set plans. Secondly you like to lead.

If you put a rucksack on your back, in that case you are a very independent person and have something of a pioneer spirit in you. You’re used to rough living.

If to all of these you prefer to go by train this tells us that you are romantic, a dreamer by nature, living in the past but all the same enjoying the conveniences offered by the modern world.

If you go by bus or by coach, you are both practical and economical, in other words, you watch your pennies.

If air travel attracts you, then more than likely your time is very valuable to you and your days tightly scheduled.

If you ride a motor-bike, then you obviously a daring and determined person. The idea of risks appeals to you, you love adventure, you are not given to needless worry.

Answer the questions:

3. How do traveling preferences characterize people, if at all?

4. Which method of traveling, mentioned in the text would you prefer and why?
