7. Talk about the ways people do their shopping

It goes without saying that shopping is a most important part of our everyday life and besides, it is a house chore that needs to be done. Anyway, some people can’t even imagine their life without it, while others hate this activity and consider it to be boring and tiresome. On the whole there’re various ways different people do their shopping. Let’s consider the most widespread of them.

First of all, some consumers, especially if they are used to doing shopping in large supermarkets, always make up a list of goods that must be bought. As a rule they do so because they tend to forget the very thing they need. Others, who are not very keen on shopping, try to through the supermarket as quickly as possible without any interference from smb, because one can meet “the whole world” in the store. Usually, this type of people tend to get in a bad mood during shopping, moreover, they prefer to shop on their own with nobody around. Others, on the contrary, find this activity to be the best way of spending time together with their friends or even colleagues. Such customers can easily negotiate with salesmen and they often manage to find bargains.

Nobody will deny that it is rather difficult to do shopping with children. Actually, it is a real nightmare, because you have to spend a lot of time running after them and putting things that they’ve grabbed back on the shelves. And the worst situation is when parents have to calm down their crying kids, just because they haven’t bought them a toy or a chocolate.

There’re some consumers who always exactly know what they need. They quickly go from one shelf to another putting in their trolleys goods. It seems they feel almost like they’re driving and hate standing in a line, as if they were in a traffic jam.

Quite often people do window-shopping, and especially it concerns women, though some men are not the exception. They simply enjoy walking up and down in front of shop windows looking at the range of goods on display. Funny enough but they say it is just the way they spend their free time. But there’s one more type of consumers who prefer going to stores only when they have sales and offer goods at considerable discounts.

Speaking of myself, I must admit that I more prefer going to the market and do my shopping very quickly as I’m always in a hurry. Nevertheless, if I have enough time I like to walk slowly along the rows of tables, sniffing home-grown fruits and vegetables, tasting cheese or honey to decide whether they come up or not to my private taste. Furthermore, prices on the market without any doubt are considerably lower, so I am able to save my money.

8. The luck that Danny had one day

Sometimes it seems to me that our life is like a deep and completely unpredictable river with numerous turns and waterfalls. Furthermore, it is full of hardships which sometimes are very difficult to overcome. Nevertheless, everyone wants to be happy which means to have a loving family that can always support you, to have enough money to live on and, of course, to have a roof under one’s head. Unfortunately, some people don’t have anything at all and a young man called Danny is one of them. He is the main character of the story “Big business”. In fact, this fellow was very poor and miserable: he had nothing to eat, nowhere to live, and on the top of all he had a hole in his shoes. Well, someone may say that he should have found some work to start earning on his living. Actually, Danny had been looking for a job for a long time, but there was no even the ghost of a chance of getting one. It must be said, that Danny certainly was no a fool, he was good at anything, but still he had to smoke dog-ends thrown away by others and try to make both ends meet with only eight dollars and fifty cents in the torn pocket of his trousers. But at last good luck smiled at him. I t happened so that while hiding from a heavy rain in the main hall of the Post Office he found an envelope with a letter inside it. From the letter he found out that a one thousand dollar bill had been left by some mister in the inside pocket of his blue worsted suit, which he sold with some other things to the clothes dealer. Having got such a happy chance Danny decided to risk his last eight dollars and buy the suit. So, he went to this second-hand shop and asked the shop-keeper to bring him a suit, preferably worsted one. And the seller gave him the very suit that had been described in the letter. Danny tried it on and despite the jacket hung loosely from his narrow shoulders, he paid the price for it without bargaining. After a quarter of an hour Danny took out a black leather wallet, opened it and found there instead of a thousand dollar bill eleven thousand three hundred dollars. Danny couldn’t believe his eyes; he was so excited that he could hardly say a word. It turned out that the letter had been written on purpose by the dealer to earn more money. But alas the salesman had sold Danny the jacket of the shop-owner with all his money.

To sum up, I’d like to say that on the one hand it is immoral to read other people’s letters. But on the other hand I convinced that anyone being in Danny’s shoes would never refuse money or bring them back to the owner. In my opinion that is because we’re all human beings and love for money is our greatest weakness.
