Q: If you can hold the breath out longer, can you chant it four times or three times but slower?

Yogi Bhajan: You can go three to five, but normally we leave it at three. If you cannot hold the breath longer, it will create unnecessary pressure. We want you to just go with that perfect understanding.

Q: What is the difference between chanting this mantra out loud and silently?

Yogi Bhajan: I am not saying a word about this. I want you to do it. Figure out what it brings to you rather than asking me. I did it, I know it, I understand it. The hand mudra is a support to the diaphragm area. Hold your hands against your body.

Q: Do you use Maha Bandh?

Yogi Bhajan: Yes. You have to lock all three locks. You just hold it that way. Eyes are closed down nine parts.

Q: Can we give this meditation to our students?

Yogi Bhajan: You can give this meditation to the whole world. It will change anybody, who is just nothing to every thing. That's the punch line that you need to remember. If you can perfect this meditation from nothing to everything, all will be open to you.

The subject of this course is "The Real Strength of Man." I'm not going to make it a very sexy course because I want to deal with the nitty-gritty of the man in you. I want you to understand the man in you.

From earlobe to earlobe each human has an arcline. This arcline, which is the arc body, is also called the 'arc halo'. Its expanse should be from six to nine millimeters. Though it passes through the whole body, it can only be seen from earlobe to earlobe. If the expanse of your arcline, or halo, is between one and three millimeters, then you are going to have trouble.

Somebody once asked me why he should be spiritual. I answered him in a very simple way, "So that you can have an arcline." Your arc body is your first protection from negative thoughts—yours or somebody else's. That is why the arcline is so important I will give you a very practical example: Once when ! was working for customs, we were faced with the problem of an underworld figure who had successfully evaded the efforts of all our law enforcement agencies for two years. We decided to get together and pool our resources. After three days of discussion, the representatives involved had to admit that they didn't understand the situation. The case was specifi­ cally brought to my attention at that time.

I said, "The guy has a very powerful meditative mind and he is sensitive to all the dangers. Anytime we focus on him, he automatically focuses on us and leaves the

city before we can engage him." It was his arc body that protected him. The arc body is the automatic shield of the real being. It protects, acts, and projects. It needs no further qualification or classification. When a negative thought hits, it hits the arc body's shield. The arc body's shield has the power to neutralize with a force of ten. That means that if the negative frequency is at a million thrust, then the arc body will automatically project a wavelength projection of ten million thrust. (Editor's Note: Thrust is the measured force of acceleration. Projection is measured in the same way on the spiritual level.)

If one person wants to get another, say with a million thrust, the arc body will automatically project ten million thrust of projection wavelength. That is why you have been given the right to life. It is your fundamental, divine right. Your second, fundamental divine right is the right to live, and your third is the right to protect life. That protection can be automatic if you have an arc body. It is so simple. Can anything be more simple?

Man is not meant to suffer. I have presented you with a path to follow in your life that will change the course of your existence so that you can be healthy, happy and holy. The path is well laid. It is complete and it is positive. You can never, ever be in trouble.

Look at the American ego. "President Reagan was shot. But he's okay. He's perfect. There's no problem; the bullet was taken out." You don't understand that this country was established on one fundamental law: "In God We Trust " Some Americans think that the President is a solid institution that cannot be crumbled. People like that have a very, very thin arcline. When your arcline is thin, you compensate it with ego. Ego causes you tragedy. It causes you death. It causes your downfall. Have you seen people with ego? You will ask them how they are and they will tell you they are very happy. They act so charming, so perfect. Then they will ask you to loan them $20.

What I vvant to tell you is that if the arcline is really 9 millimeters, the halo is really bright, then it doesn't matter what happens around you. If you understand this concept, then you don't have to waste 25 cents buying flight insurance at the airport. First, the arc body rejects all negative projections toward itself, the physical identity of the body from which it transmits. Second, it rejects all negative mental projections at the point of origin. Third, it rejects all bacterias, viruses, etc., which approach the physical body destructively.

Finally, it has a connection.with the spiritual body. There is a triangular connection between the mind (all three minds1), the arc body and the pranic body with the spiritual body at the center. The arcline has adirect connection with all three mental bodies. The arc body has a

direct connection with the pranic body and a direct connection with the spiritual body. Because of this connection between the arc body and the spiritual body2, a spiritual teacher teaches you to follow a spiritual destiny The spiritual destiny is the most protected destiny. The spiritual destiny has no beginning and it has no end. Everything else in this world has both a beginning and an end.

The real strength of the real man is his arcline. By developing your

spiritual self, you automatically develop the protective aspect of your arcline. In its projective aspect, the arcline influences the mind. It influences every mind—which is connected, shall be connected and was connected—was, is and shall be. The amline practically computerizes the action and reaction system of the being. I'll give you an example: ^

A very beautiful, saintly person had an appointment to meet someone. I received a message asking me to come to him immediately. When I arrived he asked me to keep his appointment for him, explaining that he had a fever and could not keep it himself, but that he wanted to be repre­ sented there. When I questioned him about his fever, he said, “ Something's asking me not to go, so my body has this fever and I cannot go." So I went.

When I returned he said, "How was the visit?" "God bless you, Sir," I said. "It's good you didn't go." Of course he knew that. His arc body had arranged the fever. It had totally arranged the fever. That fever was a 105° and the doctors couldn't find any reason for it. When I came back at three-thirty that afternoon, it was absolutely normal. We discussed the situation on a practical level. I said, "Actually, the fact is, something in you that is stronger than you would not let you go." He said, "Yeah."

which is called the arcline. That which radiates is just like the electric bulb. The negative passes through the positive and there is a resistance. Resistance is the existence. So the existence of you is a radiance. The more it radiates, the more you-are; the less' it radiates, the less you are. Money can't buy it Money can't sell it. Wall-to-wall carpet cannot give it to you. Ten, twenty women can't give it to you. Skinny, beautiful, brunettes, blondes cannot do it Power or political position cannot do it.

Planes and yachts can't deliver. Neither can gardens or fruits, Chinese or Spanish restaurants. Nobody can do it.

What is God? Infinite consistency at the frequency of Infinity. All creativity is a magnetic action—

all creation. So what is your magnetic action as a human being? What is your power? What is your strength? It is your word. That word which is said, heard, or given by you—that word is your magnetic projection. For example, "I love you." If you are not bound to your word, you are nobody, because your real power is in your word. Those words as spoken, heard or given by you are you; they are your infinite consistency. When you change, you change the range of your magnetic field and, therefore, you are not that you, that infinite consistency Then you are nobody. You are nobody and nobody wants you.

Dead statues do not make love. Remember my words: dead statues do not make love. Without love there is no life. Without life, there is no experience. Without experience, there is no God. You didn't want to hear all this. You were hoping I would tell you to eat mung beans and rice and be sexy. But I want to tell you what your real strength is. I will play it straight. I will let you know and understand it.

Remember, I said that the arc body influences the mind. I did not say directs—that is important. First, it influences the actions—the meetings and the not-meetings. Second, it influences the thought form. If it is powerful, it starts making you think right, toward righteous thought. Third, it stimulates kindness. Fourth, it gives you divinity. Divinity is not God in His form of G.O.D.3 or truth or consciousness. It is infinite consistency—infinite consistency at the frequency of Infinity That means any negative becomes positive as it's transmitted into the filament of radiance,

How can you create the arcline, the arc body? You can do it by consolidating your thought form through the development of a neutral, meditative mind.

In this figure, PI, P2, and P3 form the triangle of the pituitary gland; M is the mouth with the upper and lower lips; ARK1 to ARK2 is the arcline. If we create a pressure on the pituitary area, the master gland, then, fundamentally speaking, we may reach a stage where we create a kind of channel. Have you seen my forehead? It has caved in. When you meditate very deeply, then you will find this porous bone at the forehead caves in under that meditative pressure. It becomes concave, creating a kind of channel where the two brains meet together. Therefore, if you meditate between the eyebrows and the center of the root of the nose, your concentration is right under the cavity of the pituitary.

These days, people are developing and studying many sciences of the mind—psychiatry, psychology, NLP1—I have no problem with them; they are good as instruments. They can give you the technology to pass through a phase, but they can't give you the mind to conquer a phase. Your meditative mind is the Neutral Mind, which runs your destiny. Actually there are three ways to conduct

C your destiny. First is through the law of karma: action and (6 reaction. Second, you can be a freeloader, tune-in to the magnetic field of the Earth and just float; third, your life can be run by that magnetic, attractive, very positive, creative,

Omeditative, Neutral Mind. That way you can do very well.

^It is my understanding that you react under fear. My feeling

sq is that when you have trust in God, then you are not afraid;

and When you are not afraid, you don't react. You let the Divine create the sequence and the consequences and you enjoy it. Rather than living the harshness of life, you watch the drama of life. I'll tell you about a very beautiful situation.

One day I went to the home of a friend of mine who had become my student. When I arrived I found that although he was absolutely calm, his wife was very, very disturbed. When I asked about it, he said, "It is called the 'law of polarity'." Then he laughed. "What is wrong with you?" I asked her. She said, " I don't know. I feel very upset and he doesn't feel upset at all." The truth is she was upset because she couldn't make him upset. That is all—nothing special. I asked him, "Wouldn't it be human for you to give her a reaction sometimes, when she wants a reaction?" He said, "Why should I react to her at all? If I react then she acts; when she acts, then I react; when I react, then she reacts. I don't want to play that game. She is who she is and I am who I am."

You are who you are. On that basis, the creativity of this planet Earth is 'creativity is as creativity is', just as 'you are as you are'. That essence of creativity gives you sexual abilities, sexual frequency and sexual frequency is creative frequency. You can have sexual intercourse with a woman and get it over with or you can do something with it. All that sexual activity is controlled by the pituitary gland; therefore, it is controlled by the Neutral Mind, the meditative mind.

This is very important for people who are non-creative. Non-creative people become senile. They shut everything off. It is evident when a person is senile because they are old and they cannot hide it. But actually, most of you are senile, too. You shut things off from your consciousness all the time. The difference is that you don't show your reaction externally like the old folks do. We have to find out about your senility.

Basically every human being who does not have a Neutral Mind acts like a valve. I call it 'valve living'—closing off and opening up. You open a valve: "I love you." You close a valve: "I don't love you anymore." You have experienced that. It is all through American life. The most powerful expression I ever heard was, "I have put my love in a temporary dead file." Write it down. I have to analytically deal with this situation with you. It means, "I have frozen

my love." Western people Rave developed in-their brain;in their vocabulary, a section which is called the 'freezer1. The first thing they freeze there is love. They don't understand that when you freeze love, you freeze consciousness, you freeze kindness. Love, consciousness, kindness, and creativity—they all go together.

Loving or suffering—doesn? matter—as long as you are alive never stop the flow of love and never ever be unkind. These faculties will give you tremendous amounts of joy, experience and consciousness. You may experience temporary setbacks. But in every situation, always fight back with kindness. Be so kind that you become one of a kind.

On the physical level, you have to close down your eyes and fix them on the tip of the nose. Then put a heavy pressure between the center of the eyebrows and the root of the nose and consolidate your thought form. This practice of consolidating the thought form will give you a meditative mind, and the meditative mind will give you a huge arc body. That.huge arc bodyjs the strength of the man. That is his strength in the bedroom/jn-the living room and in the world at large. ,

Question and Answer

G; Could you explain ''consolidating the thought form"? Do you recommend any particular mantra to use in order to consolidate the thought form?

Yogi Bhajan; There are three mantras which are best to consolidate thought form; Guru Mantra, the Panj Shahdl and any three and a half frequency mantra.

These are the particular mantras which will cut the thought form and consolidate it. They work because they stimulate the magnetic field and not only bring the arcline back to normal but also enhance it. Where there is mastery/there is no mystery. Everything is there for you to do, but it is up to you to do it

Q; Can you tell us the difference between the Panj

Shabd and the Guru Mantra?

Yogi Bhajan: Here is the difference. You need 8,4 million lifetimes to become a human being. Some human beings receive a blessing, a promise that they will meet a spiritual teacher; this is Gurprasad. God has somehow told you to meet a spiritual teacher. The spiritual teacher wiiriead you to

the Guru. The Guru will lead you to God. That is the circle. The Guru Mantra is promised to those who have already been promised. The Panj Shabd is for those who have no promise. There is nothing in their destiny. They are:

Palach palach sagalee muee jhoothai dhandhai moh.

"Everybody dies suffering in the false entanglements of worldly things."

You? You are afraid of death. You are afraid of failure. But it is all in polarity, because you are also afraid of success. You are afraid of love. You are afraid of hatred. You are afraid of everything! But you cannot be afraid of one thing: you cannot be afraid of God nor can you be afraid to dwell in God. Remember: love without trust and trust without love means nothing. Love is nothing but infinite trust. Infinite trust is nothing but love. When you dwell in God then you are in it. You are in love with it, you are enjoying it; it is all perfect.

Q: To consolidate our thought form you originally said there were three things. I only got the first one which was the Guru Mantra. But the other two, what are the two...?

Yogi Bhajan: Yes, you've got it? All darkness will be equated with the thought form, because when you feel a thought you feel the content of the thought. When you counteract, counteract with " I am the brightness of the soul." You should feel the essence of your being that is the soul. It will

equate, "I am the light." Okay.

CLYou said that you have to change the thought form and when I think something, I think of the content of that thought.

Yogi Bhajan: Then you should feel the essence of your being. That is the soul. It will equate.

Q; For those who don't have the destiny, Panj Shabd will...?

Yogi Bhajan: For those who do not have a destiny, the Panj Shabd is the destiny. There is no secret about it.

Keertam naam kathe tere jaihbaa. Sat.Naam teraa poorbalaa.

"My tongue utters Thine acquired Names,

But 'Sat Nam' is Thy primal and ancient Name."

All names given to God are as I feel Him, know Him, understand Him, and be with Him. But Sat Naam teraa poorbalaa, that is your real Being.

Q: How would you know if you had a destiny or not?

Yogi Bhajan: Circumstances will prove it. Our destiny is. There are two ways to understand destiny: One is that you live and you die like those earthworms. Two, you do certain deeds that cause you to be remembered unto Infinity. If you carve your place into the memory of this planet Earth, your destiny is served. That is why it is said, "Live like a saint; die like a soldier." Then you shall carve your destiny into the planet Earth.

Q: What about giving positive projections to political figures when they are in power?

Yogi Bhajan: First of all, you must understand that political figures are not very powerful. I know some politicians personally. They are the weakest people. Not only are they the weakest, the majority of them have no moral standard, no time and no space. Political power is a dream world. It is a totally temporary reality in which you prostitute your soul most of the time.

I know a man who is a very powerful politician among the politicians. He is a very powerful man and he is a very good Christian. One day he said to me, "I love Jesus Christ, but I think he hates me." "Are you sure?" I asked. "Yes," he replied. I asked, "How do you know?" He said, "Because I am a politician." He is a very, very saintly Christian politician. Very, very Christian, very liberal, very beautiful; he lives by the book. He lives by the rule. He felt very blessed by my visit. He was very grateful that I came to see him. He asked me, "Do you think Jesus loves me?" I said, "Yes." "No, I love Jesus; but Jesus doesn't love me, because I am a politician." There is no space in politics. The power is very corrupt. It is very temporary.

The ministry of the Divine is an ever loving, longing ministry. Martin Luther King, Jr. was not the President of the United States was he? Was he a senator? He was nobody. But he is respected and loved more than anybody can be respected and loved. Black loves him. White loves him. Brown loves him. People of all races love him. All of America loves him. This is because the act of power of the Ministry of Divinity is always everlasting. He died for peace. He died for mankind. He died for a righteous cause. He died righteously. That is why there is the saying, "If you cannot live for God, at least you can die for It." You sing it, too; "We die before we fall."2 Have you heard that?

CL Is there a major difference when you meditate at the tip of the nose as opposed to meditating with the eyes fixed at the root of the nose?

Yogi Bhajan: No. There are many meditations. We have given 700 to 1,100 meditations. Pick any one of those. They are all equal. They all have a purpose. They are all well explained. I am just giving the first fundamentals. I am not into meditative gimmicks to prove myself. Anybody is welcome to use these meditations.

Q: Will what you eat and what you wear affect your spirituality?

Yogi Bhajan: Yes. What you eat is what you are. What you wear is what you want to project. Your entire way of life can change, if you change your clothing and your food. Once, the superintendent of a jail came to see me. He complained that riots were happening constantly in the jail. So we did an experiment. You all know the Solstice diet? Well, I told him to give the inmates one month of that diet, mandatory. He

continued the diet for three months and then he came to see me again. "Sir, I want to confess something."

I said, "What confession? What has happened?" He said, "The whole jail has become yogis. Now we have surplus wardens. We don't have anything to do. Everyone is meditating. They sit silently. They are calm. They are quiet." So you are what you eat.

Whatever you want to project in your life, your clothing will confirm it. If you want to live a pure life, you will wear white. If you want to live a colorful life, you will wear colorful clothes. All clothing has a great combination and effect; it is called bana. Your power to act and your power to reject is always there, but what you become lies in your power to have a consistent influence. You can't live as a flip-flop. You have to be consistent. Consistency to Infinity is your real strength.

Q: Earlier you told us a story about a criminal who had a very powerful arcline. But then it was my further understanding that a good arcline comes with spiritual living. This seems contradictory to me.

Yogi Bhajan: If a person lives very purely—I won't say spiri­ tually—but very ethically, he develops avery powerful arcline. Pure living, ethical living, comes from spiritual knowledge and spiritual living. Those who develop that way of living also develop a powerful arcline.

Q: But how does a criminal develop a spiritual arcline? He was not living a spiritual life.

Yogi Bhajan: No. You have a total misunderstanding of human living. Most people have never studied human living. Human living goes from action to action, from breath to breath. Nobody lives a spiritual life all the time. Just as nobody lives acriminal life all the time. You only act criminally sometimes. All that matters in the end is the balance sheet. Criminals are human beings, too, and sometimes they have moments that are more beautiful and more honest than those of the saints.

1remember an incident that happened when I was aCustom's Intelligence Officer. I was out in the field with 15 of my men and we got into some quicksand. We were way out in the countryside and all but one of us was trapped. I figured we were about three hours away from death. I knew of a man who lived in the area. He was at the top of the Custom's hit list—at the top. We had been ordered to capture him dead or alive. It had been impossible for us to do that because his activities were very well protected. I ordered that last one of my men to go to that fellow's village and give him my message that we needed his help. "Sir," he said, "if he knew w,e were here and trapped in this situation, he would come and kill us all." "No," I said, "he owes me one. I owe
