Тема 5. Конкретизация, генерализация.

Конкретизация – замена исходного слова с очень широким значением на слово с конкретным значением в зависимости от контекста.

Например:

• He is a man of taste. Он человек со вкусом.

• All the king’s men Все солдаты короля

• Then you’ll be a man, my son. Тогда ты будешь мужчиной, сын.

Banking facilities – банковские услуги

Transport facilities – транспортные средства

Computing facilities – компьютерное оборудование

Borrowing facilities – кредитование

Генерализация – перевод словом с более широким значением, чем исходное.

Например:

– Britain has dealings with the rest of the world. – У Англии имеются широкие экономические связи с остальными странами мира.

• She was killed in a car accident. – Она погибла в автокатастрофе.

Задания:

Переведите следующие словосочетания и предложения на русский язык, используя приемы конкретизации или генерализации.

1. good food, good water, good flowers, good lungs, good excuse, good citizen,

bad fish, bad smell, bad headache, a bad finger, a bad mistake, a bad coin, a bad debt.

Тема 6. Перевод атрибутивных сочетаний.

Атрибутивные сочетания – это словосочетания, в которых определение выражено разными частями речи. В составе атрибутивных сочетаний в качестве определения могут присутствовать существительные, сочетания существительных и предлогов, существительных и наречий. В зависимости от значения слов в составе атрибутивного сочетания могут применяться разные способы их перевода.

Иногда в качестве определения к существительному выступает целая фраза, все слова которой пишутся через дефис.

Например:

- join-at-all-costsmovementдвижение за присоединение любой ценой

– president- proposed measures меры, предложенные президентом

– the better-than-anticipated results показатели выше запланированных

– out-of-town visitors приезжие посетители

Существуют следующие приемы перевода атрибутивных сочетаний:

Описательный перевод

- out-of-the-way places	- места где редко бывают
– an hour-early visitor - bird-watcher (to watch birds)	гость, явившийся на час раньше a любитель наблюдать за птицами
– a no-show customer	клиент который не является в заказанный, срок (в ресторане) или место (в гостинице и т.п.)
