Audrey hepburn

Impressions of the film: love it or hate it

I really enjoyed it. It was brilliant!I didn’t enjoy it at all. The plot was banal and the acting very poor.

Note: – use indeed after very and an adjective or adverb to emphasize a statement. The film was very boring indeed. I liked it very much indeed.

moving – causing strong feelings, especially of sadness.

performance – the act of playing a role in a film or play.

gripping – very exciting; holding your attention.

entertaining – interesting and fun.

drama – exciting things that happen; an exciting event. dramatic adj

fan – smb who really likes and is enthusiastic about a person or an activity.

movie – a film especially in US English.

plot – the series of events that form the story of a film, novel, etc.

disappointing – not as good as you had hoped.

swearing – rude language that may upset people. swear v

unsuitable( for smth/smb) - not right or appropriate for smth / smb;. opp suitable.

disgusting – very unpleasant.

Exercise 19. How do you choose the film to see? Think of the last film you saw at the cinema or on TV and tick the reasons for seeing the film.

I always see films of this kind. I always try to see films with these actors in it. Everybody was going to see it.

I had nothing better to do, it was all the same to me what to see. A friend recommended it. The ads looked interesting / exciting. There was no better choice. I read the book and wanted to see its screen version. I read a review in the TV guide.

Exercise 20. To avoid the disappointment of a bad film it is recommended to read reviews in newspapers, magazines and TV guides. Each month specially trained journalists watch the latest releases and give their verdicts. So, to save your time and money read the reviews and decide whether these films are to your taste.
