1. Are you going to travel by air for the first time? Then listen to the order of events that describe what you do when you go to an airport to catch a plane.
Besides you’re going to listen to the order of events when you fly to your destination. This piece of advice is approximate, as different people do different things, and not all airports are the same.
The order of your actions when you arrive at the airport
When you arrive at the airport, you go to a gate. After that you go to the check-in-desk, where you get a boarding card and check in your luggage. When you go through passport control, you may go to the duty-free shop. You have to watch closely on the departure board to see if your flight is boarding yet. When the board tells you which gate to go to, you board the plane.
The order of events when you are landing
When the plane lands, you unfasten your seatbelts first of all. Getting your hand luggage from the overhead compartment you wait for the doors to open. You go into the arrival hall and go through passport control. After that you wait for your luggage to arrive and collect your luggage. Going through the customs you may leave the airport.
2. To remember well what to do at the airport let’s revise the order of actions.
At the departure airport:
to arrive at the airport;
to go to a gate … etc.
At the arrival airport:
the plane lands;
to unfasten one’s seatbelts … etc.
3. Let’s play. Divide into two teams. Each team will get cards with key words concerning travelling by train or by plane. Your task is to put the key words into the correct table as quickly as possible and read them aloud.
