The history of University begins on May the 30th 1969, when it was founded on the basis of the Building faculty of the Tyumen Industrial Institute . At the beginning of 1970 the rector group was created under the guidance of Michail Vasilyevitch Maltzev.
The first 1035 students entered the Institute in February 1971. The staff-group of more than hundred tutors were sent from Tyumen Industrial Institute. They arrived from large scientific centres such as Omsk, Novosibirsk, Leningrad, Sverdlovsk and Tomsk.
The University became one of the most important Technical Institute in Tyumen region due to the teaching staff during last 33 years.
In 1995 the Tyumen Civil Engineering Institute was renamed into Tyumen State Academy of Architecture and Civil Engineering.
First the Institute had two faculties: Road Engineering Faculty and Civil Engineering Faculty.
Nowadays students are taught about 23 specialities at 5 faculties: the Road Engineering Faculty, the Faculty of Architecture and Civil Engineering, the Economics and Management Faculty, the Faculty of Engineering Systems and Structures, the Distance Education Faculty. There are 26 chairs in the University . After study students can take a postgraduate course and further get a Doctor’s degree.
The University has branches in Tobolsk, Muravlenko, Nadym, Labytnangi, Ishim, Pokachi, Urai, Lyantor, Turtas-village.
The University has already educated about 17 thousand specialists.
The guidance is carried out by Academic council, headed by the rector. In 1995 the Council of the Academy created the Tyumen Regional Public Fund of University at present time – Fund of the Development of the University.
One of the first results of Fund’s activity was new image of the University.
The main building, a piece of architecture and history of XIX century, was restored and also the construction of the new educational building was begun and the transition between buildings was built. Today the Fund provides the University with the modern lab equipment, textbooks and methodical literature and helps to publish the books and monographies. Nowadays the participants of Fund are chiefs of the large enterprises in field of building industry of Tyumen region.
9. In 2000 the first specialists graduated from the University. The employees of the University took an active part in economical planning of a regional building complex, in designing and erection of different important buildings all over the Siberia. They are refinery in Tobolsk, Gas-converting Factory in Surgut, gas deposits in Yamburg and blocks in Tyumen, Surgut, Nizhnevartovsk, Nadym and Tobolsk, sites of road construction and many others.
