1.Saratov State Technical University, one of the oldest public institutions in Saratov, with a very rich history. Today, Technical University consists of 92 faculties and 16 departments. Avtomehenichesky faculty in my opinion is very useful in modern life. He produces professionals of different specialties and areas in the field of road transport. Road transport is the leading transport service providers and transport of various materials over short distances. I think the choice of the faculty and the profession, very correct and deliberate pace.

2.My father is working for an international company as a managing director.

I have been several times at his office. I like it very much to be there.

My father is very busy. He often comes late from work. But I can see that he likes his job. And he always finds the time to spend with me and mom.

Sometimes he tells us about the difficult situations, which his company faces. It is so interesting to listen to him. It seems to me that you need to have a very creative mind to be a businessman.

My father is a friendly person and he is easy to talk to. I respect my father and I want to become a businessman too. I think our country needs good businesspeople to strengthen its economy.

Manager deals mainly with people. It studies what is necessary to do that people worked better and were not offended.

Marketing deals with market research and commercial activity in general.

I still have time to think and choose.

3. We live in the modern world and you can’t imagine an educated person who doesn’t know any foreign language. It is especially important nowadays. Some people learn languages because they need them in their work, others travel abroad. English is a widely spoken language all over the world. You can hear it everywhere: in a street, in shops and restaurants, in offices. You don’t need to know Japanese when you go to Japan, or French when you visit Paris. English will help you to understand each other. A modern engineer or even a worker deals with instruments and machines from other countries and must be able to read the instructions, which are usually written in English. Computer programs and games, most of Internet pages are also written in English. Science magazines are mostly published in English and scientific and business conferences are held in English. Diplomats and militaries use English to solve their problems. Besides, the knowledge of English helps to know more about the countries, read many books in the original and to make new friends. That’s why all pupils should master their English to become good specialist in any branch.

4. Weekdays student alike, a lot of time studying and takes only a little time left to privacy. It remains a bit of time to practice and a little rest. Almost all of the weekend I spend with my friends. We actively relax: skate, ski, we go to the country. The output is a relaxing time for me. I like to get up late and later lay down. But there are times when you want to spend the weekend alone, play computer movies, reading books and spending more time with my family.

5. British culture, traditions and customs. Британская культура, традиции и обычаи.

British nation is the most conservative in Europe. Englishmen are proud of their traditions and carefully keep them up. The best examples are their queen, their complex money system, their weights and measures of length and volume.

Traditions also remain in meals. In the afternoon the British have High Tea, which is served between 3pm and 5pm. It is a pot of tea usually with sandwiches, small cakes, and pastries. The traditional meals are Friday Fish and Chips, Sunday Roast (Roast beef served with roast potatoes).

There are many superstitions in Britain, but one of the most famous is that it is unlucky to walk under a ladder, to open an umbrella in the house, to break a mirror. The number 13 is unlucky, especially on Friday. But it brings luck to touch wood for luck.

6. Higher education in Britain and Russia. Высшее образование в Британии и России.

In Britain students apply to universities months before they take their A-levels. The students take a personal interview and the universities then decide which students they want. They offer them a place which depends on A-level results.

Universities offer three- and four-year degree courses. A degree is the qualification you get from university when you pass your final exams. You are then awarded a BA (Bachelor of Arts), BSc (Bachelor of Science) or BEd (Bachelor of Education).

In Russia students apply to universities after the unified national exam. The universities accept students only on the results of the exam. Universities offer four-year degree courses to get a bachelor’s degree and another year or 2 to get a master’s degree. After graduation the young people of both countries look for a job.

7. Modern technology. The Internet. Its advantages and disadvantages. Современная технология. Интернет. Его достоинства и недостатки.

Modern technology is very dependent on the Internet, and the Internet is a modern technology in itself. The Internet is a huge network of computers. It is very helpful, because it's a huge database of knowledge, from the pictures to quantum mechanics. Besides getting data, we can also send and receive e-mails, chat via skype and icq. On the internet communication is cheaper and much quicker.

However, there are some problems on the Internet. The most important problem is security. When you send an e-mail, your message can travel through many different networks and computers. Your data can be watched, stolen or spoiled by viruses. There are some anti-virus programs but they can easily be cracked. Another big and serious problem of the net is control – control of the author’s rights, commercials and pornography. So everyone may choose how the Internet can safely help him.

8. Ways of travelling. Places of visit around the world. Способы путешествия. Мировые достопримечательности.

Millions of people all over the world spend their holidays travelling. They travel to see other countries and continents, modern cities (Sydney, New York) and the ruins of ancient towns (Athens, Rome), they travel to enjoy picturesque places (Dubai, London), or just for a change of scene. It is always interesting to discover new things, different ways of life, to meet different people, to try different food.

Most travellers and holiday-makers take a camera with them and take pictures of everything that interests them — the sights of a city, old churches and castles, views of mountains, lakes, valleys, plains, waterfalls, forests, different kinds of trees, flowers and plants, animals and birds.

People travel by train, by plane, by boat, and by car. All ways of travelling have their advantages and disadvantages. And people choose one according to their plans and destinations.

9. Innovations and gadgets.

We cannot imagine modern life without gadgets. Innovations work not only for science, but for our everyday comfort. Gadgets are small thing which makes our life easier. They help us about the house, with our health, with our children’s control, with our cars, and so on. For example, there is a watch which can measure the pulse and the blood pressure. On your table you can have a photo frame which can speak, change photos, and even wake you up (if it has a clock in it)! In your car you can have a gadget that ionizes the air around, and a gadget in your ear which stops you from falling asleep while you are driving. There are also gadgets which warn you that somebody is shooting you. So the gadgets can be very helpful though they cost money.

10. Applying for a job. Job interview. Устройство на работу. Собеседование.

Everyone can have a problem of looking for a job. Before you look for it, decide what job you need, what job makes you happy. After you decide, start looking for it. You may search through ads in newspapers and sites, write your resume and leave it on the site or an employment agency. Anyway you should be ready to find the job you need and take an interview there. You should be prepared to hear questions about the job – your education, experience, skills, place of living, languages you speak, what job you want, what pay you want and so on. You should already have the answers to the question to feel safe at the interview. If you don’t get the job you like – don’t give up, you will find it at last.
