5 Of the 7 people I know already have iPhones or ipad. This clearly means a lot.
A
survey conducted by Wall Street house Piper Jaffray looked at the
cell phone habits of 4,500 American Teenagers. While 17% of teen
already own an Apple iPhone, up from the previous survey's 14%, a
record 37% responded that they plan on purchasing Apple's Touchscreen
handset within the next 6 months.
While
iTunes has a 95% market share among teenagers, ironically, a majority
of teens act as though downloading music is a constitutional right
and refuse to pay for it. 77% of the youngsters download music while
65% use peer-to-peer networks music sharing networks as the source
for their tunes.
Apple
continues to be popular among teens with an 86% market share among
portable media devices. That is up from 78% 6 months ago. 80% of
teens own a portable media player, the lowest reading since 2007.
This indicates that more teenagers are buying the iPhone for the
built-in iPod. Microsoft's Zune and Sony tied for second in market
share, each with 3% of the market.
Also,
the popularity of the App Store and the quality of games available
for the iPhone have likely led to the gains among the teen
demographic in recent months.”
Our
conclusion: “Apple is taking its leading position in music and
mobile markets.”
