2. Goals and objectives of the internship

  1. Internships will provide students the opportunity to test their interest in a particular career before permanent commitments are made.

  2. Internship students will develop skills in the application of theory to practical work situations.

  3. Internships will provide students the opportunity to test their aptitude for a particular career before permanent commitments are made.

  4. Internship students will develop skills and techniques directly applicable to their careers.

  5. Internships will aid students in adjusting from college to full-time employment.

  6. Internships will provide students the opportunity to develop attitudes conducive to effective interpersonal relationships.

  7. Internships will increase a student's sense of responsibility.

  8. Internship students will be prepared to enter into full-time employment in their area of specialization upon graduation.

  9. Internship students will acquire good work habits.

  10. Internships will provide students with the opportunity to earn a salary while pursuing educational goals.

  11. Internship students will develop employment records/references that will enhance employment opportunities.

  12. Internships will provide students with an in-depth knowledge of the formal functional activities of a participating organization.

  13. Internships will provide students the opportunity to understand informal organizational interrelationships.

  14. Internship programs will enhance advancement possibilities of graduates.

  15. Internship students will have higher levels of academic performances.

  16. Internship programs will increase student earning potential upon graduation.

  17. Collect data for writing the diploma thesis.

3. Internship requirements

  1. Before you begin an internship, meet with the Internship coordinator. Get advice on what documents are essential to be collected.  Then prepare an application.  If your application is approved, you will be given permission to register for your internship.

  2. The students can pass the internship in a large or medium-sized enterprise operating at least for three years. The enterprise can be private, public, partnerships, corporations, etc.

  3. During the internship write weekly reports /Internship diary [attached at the end]

  4. At the end of the internship write an Internship Final Report.[details provided below]

  5. The student has to bring an acceptance letter from the organization [free form]

  6. The student has to bring an Recommendation letter from the organization [Appendix 1]

  7. The student has to bring an completion letter from the organization [Free form]

  8. Student has to sign a contract with company [Provided to you by the department]

 4. WRITING THE REPORT

  1. At the end of the production internship a student submits a written report to the chair, which must have all systematized materials collected during the period of internship, and its main conclusions.

  1. Report must have three parts : introduction, main part, and conclusion

  1. In introduction briefly describe the background of the industry and organization you were associated with during the internship. Include the short-run and long-run outlook for this type of organization and the possibilities of future positions for college graduates with this organization and other organizations in the same field. In the main part briefly describe the major areas for which you were responsible during your internship.

  1. Your report should consist of the following points:

  • Philosophy of the enterprise

  • SWOT analysis

  • Organizational Structure

  • Management Functions

  • Human Resource Management

  • Production Management

  • Organization behavior

  • Consumers and Competitors analysis

  • Main Products of the firm

  • An analysis of pricing policies of the enterprise

  • Analysis of Promotional activity

  • Analysis of Channels of Distribution

  • Financial analysis

  • Financial planning

  • Financing Policies

  • Risk management techniques

  • Capital budgeting

  • Market type: oligopoly, monopoly, competitive…

  • IS-LM curve

  • Determinants of demand and supply

  1. In conclusion review your list of objectives and learning activities and discuss how each objective was met.

  1. The report should be typed, and be 15-20 pages in length.  Both the content of the final report and the quality of your writing will affect your grade for the final report.  Your internship course grade will be based on your supervisor's evaluation and your final report.
