LABARATORY WORKS, SSS, SSSI:

Practices will be assigned almost every class period. Each practice will be graded unless there are major errors or omissions and it is returned for correction or completion. Practices with minor detail or other non-conceptual errors will be graded as submitted.

Practices must be submitted until the end of the class unless specifically stated otherwise. If you are absent on the day an assignment is due, it will not be accepted later, unless you have a medical or court excuse. If you have an excuse you must show your practice work next lesson (not later).

QUIZZES: There will be about 4 quizzes after each main topic finishes. There will be NO MAKE-UP QUIZZES - none even later during the same class period. Quizzes will be given only to those students who are present when the quizzes are passed out.

FINAL EXAM: The final exam will consist of comprehensive test and a final project. It will be at the end of semester according to final exam schedule. Final project defense day will be also declared at the end of semester.

ATTENDANCE:

There is no grade for attendance, but there are several things that you should keep in mind:

1. Anyone who has more than 20% of absence will automatically receive “F” grade for the COURSE.

2. Every student gets 10 point of bonuses at the beginning of the semester, but each absence will reduce it by 2 points.

Absences for which a medical or court excuse is provided (professional letterhead required) will be recorded and used as an exception for the first rule of ATTENDANCE, but not for the second one.

YOUR IDEAS, EVALUATIONS, ETC.

In general, your ideas, comments, suggestions, questions, grade challenges, etc. are welcome. Your discretion in these matters is expected, however.

You are encouraged to take advantage of instructor office hours for help with coursework or anything else connected with the course and your progress.

SUGGESTIONS FOR SUCCESS

For most students this will not be a "difficult" course. However, there are general mistakes that students make and which affect negatively on their final grades. Here is the list of suggestions:

1. Do everything in time: most students mistakenly think that if the deadline of their home assignments and final projects is not tomorrow there is nothing to worry about. But don't forget that there are another courses except Informatics that you will take. That's why finish everything as soon as possible, otherwise you will not have enough time at the end of the semester.

2. Be careful with deadlines, especially practice deadlines and final project deadline.

3. Finish your quizzes and midterms in time: most students don't finish their quizzes or midterms in time which affect badly on their grades. This is because of the lack of experience. That's why you should practice more at home and during classes.
