The first show that Circus Ethiopia put on in Addis Ababa in 1991 was a very simple affair. A few ropes were 1) tied together to form the ring and a car stereo 2) provided the sound. However, the free show which was put on by a group of school children, who performed some acrobatics, juggling and tight rope walking, was a huge 3) success. Marc La Chance, a Canadian teaching in Addis Ababa, wanted to give the children that he worked with a brighter future.
