Test 2 Adjectives and Adverbs

  1. Decide whether the underlined words are right or wrong. Write in brackets R for right sentences and W for wrong sentences

1. The driver of the car was serious injured. 2. Be quiet, I don't hear anything. 3. I waited nervous before the interview. 4. You are always so nervous! Why?! 5. Why was he so unfriendly when I saw him yesterday? 6. Ted and Pam were happy married. 7. Ted's English is not good but his French is fluent. 8. Tanya lived in the US for 5 years, so she speaks very well English. 9. The examination was surprising easy. 10. The accident was pretty bad. 11. Everybody at the party was very colourful dressed. 12. Ann likes wearing colourful clothes. 13. I tried hardly to remember his name but I couldn't. 14. See you soon. Don't work so hard! 15. Your watch is fast! 16. Don't work too fast. Can't you work more slowly? 17. The train was lately. 18. Have you seen Tom lately?. 19. I got up late this morning.

II. Put in either so or such

  1. Come on! Don't walk ... slowly.

III. Use an adjective ending in -ing or-ed to complete each sentence

1. Tom is ... in politics. Tom finds politics ... (interesting, interested).

2. Everyone was ... that he'd passed the examination. It was quite ... that he'd passed the examination (surprising, surprised).

3.The film was ... . I was ... with the film (disappointing, disappointed).

4. He is always ... when he gets home from work. He has a very ... job (tiring, tired)

5. The TV program was ... . I was ... in the middle of the TV program (boring, bored)

6. She is really... about going to America. It will be an ... experience for her (exciting, excited).

7. Do you easily get...? It's sometimes ... when you have to ask people for money (embarrassing, embarrassed).

IV. Translate into English

1. Он усердно работал весь год, но едва смог оплатить обучение сына. 2. Машина ехала очень быстро. 3. Мои часы спешат. 4. Фильм был таким скучным, что я едва смог дождаться его конца. 5. Его выступление всем надоело. 6. Я никогда не слушал такой интересной лекции ранее.

Test 3 Adjectives. Degrees of Comparison

I. Complete these sentences. Use the comparative form of the words in brackets + than where necessary

II. Translate the following sentences into Russian

III. Write the questions using the words in brackets. The adjectives should be in their superlative form

IV. Translate into English

1. Вчера я встал позже, чем обычно. 2. Мой отец самый старший в семье, а сестра самая младшая. 3 Мой старший брат на 5 лет старше меня. 4. Она такая же красивая, как и её мать. 5. Аэропорт дальше отсюда, чем вокзал. 6. Этот рассказ не такой интересный, как тот. 7. У меня меньше книг, чем у вас. 8. Ваш диктант самый плохой, 9. Этот костюм менее дорогой, чем тот. 10. Чем больше он занимался проблемой, тем больше она его интересовала.
