Тема 4 (3) Flight Plan

1. Why do pilots wonder if their flight plan is available? (-They want to make sure that their flight plan is ready and then they will wait for the air traffic control departure clearance).

2. Why may there amendments to ATC clearance against the original flight plan appear? (-be-cause of restrictions, delays, and other unexpected events).

3. What is Flight Plan? (- specified information related to the intended flight of an aircraft that is provided to air traffic services units).

4. In what form and where to is it submitted? (-as a complete standard form - to an appropriate ATS authority).

5. What data does a flight plan contain? (- a.craft identification, its type, equipment, cruising speed and level, route of flight, departure, destination alternate aerodromes, fuel endurance, number of persons on board, other information).

6. For what flights is it mandatory to file a flight plan? (- for all IFR and VFR flights within controlled airspace).

7. In Russia, where is the flight plan normally completed? (- in briefing rooms).

8. Where to and how is it submitted? (-in person, to the appropriate reporting office – Briefing Office – at the departure aerodrome).

9. In other countries? (- to a Flight Service Station or an Operations Department).

10. How is the filed flight plan processed by the centre in which the flight begins? (- It is entered into the centre,s computer, where it is scanned for preferred routes. The route is analyzed for any restrictions that may be in effect, such as traffic conflicts, unserviceable nav. aids, prohibited, restricted or dangerous areas, known or projected delays, and flow control restrictions).

11. When must flight plans be filed and why? (-at least 30 minutes before requesting start-up approval, due to the time it takes to check the variables).

12. What kind of plan may be submitted for scheduled IFR flights with identical basic features? (- a repetitive flight plan).

13. Why is it often referred to as a “stored plan”? (-it is submitted by an operator for computer storage and repetitive use by ATC units for each individual flight).

14. What is a filed flight plan? (-the flight plan as filed with an ATS unit by the pilot or a designated representative, without any subsequent changes).

15. Where to is the data relative to the flight sent after the route is finalized? (-to the various centres covering the flight).

16. What for is it done? (-to provide ACC controllers with time to analyze the flight for any restrictions and amend the route clearance if necessary before the a.craft enters the centre, s airspace).
