in the economic policy of five generations of Chinese leaders

Abstract:

After the foundation of the PRC in 1949, the economic policy of the country was formed by five generations of the Chinese leadership. The program of “new democracy”, which was put forward initially, being in fact a plan of gradual socialist transformation, was interrupted by “Ac& celerated construction of socialism”, “Great Leap, and People's Communes”, and then the decade of the “Cultural Revolution”. The new economic start was signified by the proclamation of the task of building “Socialism with Chinese characteristics”, requiring the policymakers to follow the principle of “Practice is the criterion of truth”. “The center of gravity” in the party and state activity was shifted to economic construc& tion and for a period of more than 35 years of reform the social and eco& nomic policy of the Chinese leadership has remained consistent, supple& mented only by “creative discoveries” of the new generation of leaders.
